2021 PIE THROW: Virtual Edition
Team CWA Engineers Inc. is extremely excited to be a part of Teck Resources Mining for Miracles – 2021 Pie Throw: Virtual Edition, bringing a new twist to this annual fundraising event in support of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF).
The annual Pie Throw event is the B.C. mining industry’s signature fundraising event in support of BCCHF. Each year, leaders from across the industry are placed into either individual match ups, or into teams (as is the case with the engineering companies) that will compete in a friendly fundraising competition. Participants who raise the most money get to toss a cream pie into the face of their competitor.
This year’s Mining for Miracles event aims to raise $1,000,000 in support of the Cellular and Regenerative Medicine Centre (CRMC).
Pre-taped videos of the pie throws will be streamed online over three excitement-building days from Tuesday, May 25 to Thursday, May 27 before the grand fundraising total is announced. We are excited at the prospect of reaching an even broader audience this year with a virtual campaign, as the Pie Throw has been a live event in previous years held at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

This year’s engineering teams are made up of fierce and experienced competitors who have met previously in this competition, and who are all keen to outdo their past personal bests as well as the other team.

OUR BRAVE PIE-EE
Our very own Steven Yee has, once again, heroically placed his face on the line to be our pie-ee!
This year we have set an ambitious Goal of raising $15,000 in donations.
Along with the other engineering firms listed above, as well as the other individual match-ups, we are collectively aiming to raise $1,000,000 in total for this year’s Pie Throw!
We are doing this to raise money for the building of the BC Children’s Hospital’s new Cellular and Regenerative Medicine Centre (CRMC). 100% of all funds raised go directly to support the building of this amazing new facility.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
This year’s event will support the BC Children’s Hospital Cellular and Regenerative Medicine Centre (CRMC). The first of its kind in Western Canada, the CRMC will give clinicians at BC Children’s the tools to better understand the genetic cause of heart arrhythmias so they can provide the best possible care to children in BC.
