A Mining Community Tradition
CWA is proud to, once again, participate in the annual Teck Resources Mining for Miracles Pie Throw. This much anticipated event has been a tradition in BC’s mining community since 1988, where volunteers from the mining community work together to help improve the quality of health care for children in our province.
Quality Health Care for BC’s Kids
One hundred percent of all the funds raised will go directly toward building of the BC Children’s Hospital Cellular and Regenerative Medicine Centre (CRMC). The first of its kind in Western Canada, the CRMC will give clinicians at BC Children’s Hospital the tools they need to better understand the genetic cause of heart arrhythmias so they can provide the best possible care to children in BC.
The Results Are In
Including this year’s total of $18,219, CWA has raised over $68,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation over the course of four years in the competition. We are grateful to everyone who supported our fundraising campaign and to all the organizers, participants, and supporters who helped to make this event a huge success.
Participants in the 2021 sub-competition — the Engineering Battle Royal Match Up — raised a total of $244, 288, and the grand total for all funds raised in the overall Mining for Miracles 2021 competition reached an incredible $1,445,104, well surpassing the goal of $1,000,000.
